Side Quest:The Youth of Manaan
Remember how we met up with the young Selkath back in the Sith Base and how you turned them back and told them to head back to Ahto City? Well there's someone named Shaelas in the Cantina here in Ahto City who will be happy to hear this news.
Talk to him in the Cantina and, if you haven't yet talked to him up to this point, he'll tell you that he's curious what happened with the young Selkath that are basically missing in Ahto City. He'll offer up a credit reward for you. It really doesn't matter if you've talked to him yet or not, though - if you've followed my walkthrough, you already have the information he needs. Tell him that not only did you find the young Selkath and turn them away from the Sith, but you found his young child and turned her away from the Dark Jedi path as well. He'll thank you and give you 500 Credits. You can actually refuse the credits, and you'll get Light Side points if you want. In addition, you'll get 600 experience points! Easy!
Side Quest:Trial of the Century
NOTE: As mentioned above, if Jolee is not in your party, this side quest will not happen. Additionally, this side quest is a long one. But in the end, it lowers the prices that the vendors here on Manaan charge you if you manage to represent Sunry, the accused man, properly and set him free on the murder charge. It's long, it's involved.. but it's rewarding as well.
Enter the hotel and go down the long corridor until you come to a wide open room. To your right will be the check-in counter. Talk to the man behind the counter, a man by the name of Ignus, and you'll learn about an affair. The affair was happening in this hotel between a Sith woman and a Republic man. It was kept well under wraps until a few nights ago when a blaster went off in one of the rooms. The Sith woman is dead now, and although it seems obvious that the Republic man was behind the death, not everyone is so sure. Because of this, a Selkath investigation is going on into this murder, and the hotel will not be taking any business until it is sorted out. From the hotel desk, turn around and go down into a small hallway where fours doors go off into rooms on opposite sides, two doors on each side. You'll find that all four doors are locked, but there's a way to gain authorization to view the rooms behind these doors.
Leave the hotel after learning this information. Go all the way back to where the Visitor's Center is, and this time, continue going across (instead of up to the Visitor's Center) and enter into the West Courtyard area of Ahto City. As soon as you enter this sector of Ahto City, a woman named Elora (this, again, only happens if Jolee is in your party) will stop your party and instantly recognize Jolee. She says that Sunry has been arrested for murder, brought up on Sith charges after he apparently killed a Sith woman he was having an affair with, just as we found out back at the hotel. She begs and pleads for the party's help, telling Jolee that the Force has surely brought him to Manaan to set Sunry free of his allegations. Jolee agrees to help the woman.
Elora tells the party that Sunry is being held at the Selkath Courts, which is located further up from her location, down a corridor. Once you enter this open room, a Sith officer and a Republic officer will be arguing a case in front of the judges. A 6-on-3 (Sith-on-Republic) fight happened in the streets of Ahto City and no one knows who to blame. The Judges eventually come to the conclusion that both sides are to blame and give both sides a 10,000 Credit fine. Approach the benches of the five Selkath Judges thereafter and talk to the middle judge. Ask him about the Sunry murder case and it will take not long to appoint you as 'Arbiter' of the case on Sunry's side. It's up to you to find him not-guilty.
The Judge will provide you with only the most important parts of the case. Sunry was seen leaving the hotel a few nights ago, leaving behind the dead Sith woman in his room. She was carrying the medal the Republic awarded him for his valor - this makes it look like he indeed killed her. However, Jolee points out that there is almost too much evidence pointing against Sunry, and that might be why he is, indeed, not guilty. The Judge then tells you to interview the five judges (himself included) for information on the murder, as well as going to the hotel and interviewing the people in the four locked rooms we could earlier not get into to find more information on the murder. I will leave the investigating up to you - go talk to whomever it is you want (as the judges tell you) for information. If you simply want to know how to get Sunry off the hook and lower the prices at the Ahto City shops, then simply read on.
If you're choosing to follow my advice and simply read this walkthrough to free Sunry, then all you need to do is go to the jail (which is located literally next to where Elora recognized Jolee earlier and pleaded for his help). Talk to the guard there and he'll open the door into the jail. Then, talk to Sunry who is being held in a holding cage right next to the door. He and Jolee will briefly catch up. If you want to do this the legitimate way, interview him. If not, end the conversation, talk to the warden behind the desk, and begin the trial!
This will not get Sunry off, however. To get Sunry off and to lower the prices of goods in all Manaan shops, you have to talk to everyone. There are certain things you must do before the case begins:
- Go to the hotel and talk to the Rodian named Gluupor. He's easy to persuade (either naturally or by offering him 100 Credits).. the Republic medal found in Elassa's hands when she was dead was planted there by Gluupor.
- At the same hotel, you'll find the Pazaak player named Firith Me. Talk to him and he'll mention something about Elassa's Sith Master. Persuade him with 100 Credits and he'll tell you that he noticed that she carried a Sith lightsaber, and was obviously a Dark Jedi. Very important for your case.
- Talk to the owner of the hotel, Ignus. He's behind the counter in the hotel. Talk to him to find out that he believes the shot went off after Sunry left Elassa's room the night of the murder. Offer him up 200 Credits to testify to something he's not sure of in front of the court and he'll take your money. Score one more up for the defense!
- Sunry's wife, Elora, is stationed right outside of the jail where Sunry is being held. It takes very little to get her to admit that Sunry was having an affair with Elassa. Important evidence indeed.
- After talking to the four people above, talk to Sunry himself and get him to admit to the affair. With that said and done, it's time for the trial. Go talk to the man behind the counter in the jail room and start the trial!
After the judges introduce themselves, the court asks if you have any opening statements. Start by saying that you will find Sunry innocent, which immediately gives you credibility with the court. While it is up to you from here on out to ask what questions and such in both questioning and cross-examining various witnesses, I will recommend what you should say to each person.
The first witness is one for the Sith prosecution. His name is Firith Me, and he is a galaxy-wide famed Pazaak player. After the Sith question him, you'll have your chance with him. The two questions you want to ask him before resting the defense's case on this particular witness are asking him if he saw the murder, and also asking him if he thinks that the Republic medal that Sunry was awarded with being left at the murder is just a little too obvious. Both will work well in your favor. If you managed to bribe Firith Me back at the hotel as well, you can ask him if Elassa was a Dark Jedi, to which he says yes. This also is vital to your case.
The Rodian named Gluupor is then called to the stand. After the Sith prosecution has him say that he saw Sunry leave Elassa's room, leaving the dead body behind, you're able to cross examine him. Much like we did with Firith Me, you will be asking Gluupor the same two questions - did he see Sunry kill Elassa, and does he think the Republic medal that Sunry won long ago being left at the scene is a little too obvious. If you managed to bribe Gluupor back at the hotel, you can also asked him if he planted the Republic medal on Elassa's body, to which he says yes, the Sith paid him to do so. Very important to the case.
The next witness for the prosecution is none other than Sunry's wife, Elora. After the Sith bring up the fact that Sunry's crippled status is due directly to a Sith confrontation when he was younger, and that could be the reason Sunry killed the Sith woman, Elora admits it is possible. There's nothing you can really say to her that will help you out with all of the judges (which is why you really want to not ask her anything at all). Don't cross examine her. Simply go on to the next witness. However, if you managed to get her earlier to admit to the affair Elassa and Sunry were having, you have to say it now. If you let the Sith bring it up first, it will devastate your case.
Manaan23.JPG
Sunry, the man accused of killing the young Sith woman, is the next called to the stand. The entire affair is brought to light that he was having with the Sith woman (even after he lies about it to the court and is only caught in a lie). Although he originally tells the court he was trying to turn her to the Republic and have her spy on the Sith, he admits he was having an affair and was going to end it that night - but not end her life! You then get a chance to ask him some questions. Ask him both how Elassa got hold of his Republic medal, and ask him if he was going there to end the affair. Both of these points will help your case nicely. Now you will be able to close the case. The Sith prosecution presents its side of the story in its closing arguments, and you get to do the same. You'll absolutely want to bring up the fact that no one actually witnessed the murder being done. This will help you immensely in getting a not guilty verdict. In addition, argue that Sunry was going there to end the affair. It's that simple. Don't say anything else. Rest your case.
If you followed my walkthrough for this case, Sunry will be proven innocent. In addition, the case will be so Republic-sided that the Selkath charge the Sith with obstruction of justice and conspiracy, and the prices for all Republic officials (you included) go way down on Manaan!

Sith Interdictor-Class Battle Cruiser Dark Hammer.
Set one Year before the events of Kotor 1.
11:35 AM Republic standard time.
Darth Revan stood at the front of the bridge of his flagship, The Dark Hammer, Malak’s ship, the Leviathan and the flagship for the other ten members of the Sith ruling council, the Glory of the Sith engaged the small Republic fleet, the Leviathan was being hounded by three Republic Capital I-Class battle cruisers, the Glory was being attacked by four squadrons of A-wings and T-wings, The Hammer, however was not being attacked, which surprised Revan, he knew that this attack was meant to kill him and destabilize the Sith command, he also knew that any attack on his flagship would be impossible, the Hammer was 50 meters longer then a standard interdictor, it had 15 more quad lasers, 3 tractor beams more, 8 more Ion cannons and 4 more turbolasers then a standard interdictor cruiser, it also had six squadrons on board, three interceptor squadrons and three Sith bomber squadron, he knew that the Jedi would try to board his ship and attempt to capture him, but he would make it difficult for them, to test them.
“Hm, The Republic fleet is leaving the Hammer out of their attack, but I have a way to deal with that, Major, Launch all Sith Interceptors and Bombers to lure the Republic Fleet out to the Hammer…Also, have all security teams report to the bridge, docking bay, engine room and the shield generator control room, you have your orders, now carry them out, Major.” Revan said, still looking out the viewport.
“Yes sir.” Major Ondor said, saluting Revan and walked over to the control panel when two permacrete charges and two thorium charges blew open the blast door, showering the bridge with shrapnel as Major Ondor and Revan’s four Dark Jedi Master bodyguards were knocked down by the explosion as four Jedi Knights leapt through the still burning door, blades of blue, green, yellow and violet combating the blades of crimson while Admiral Jon Tarkin took out his Sith assassin’s Pistol, aimed it at Revan and said: “You will pay for your crimes against the republic, die, Revan, DIE!!!!!!.” Tarkin said as he fired his blaster at Revan.
Revan turned around and deflected the blaster blots with his gloved hand and said: “The Sith may allow traders in our ranks, but I do not allow allies of the republic on my ship.” Revan said, using the force to crush Tarkin’s windpipe as the four Jedi made their way over to him, the lead Jedi was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, her movements were as graceful and elegant as an Echani fire dancer, yet as deadly as a Mandalorian commando, through it had been many years since he had seen her, he still knew who she was.
“The Jedi are here sooner then I thought they would be, Bastila would be the natural choice to lead this commando mission, she is as beautiful as she was all those years ago.” Revan thought as Bastila and three other Jedi knights stood a few feet away from him.
“So, the Jedi send great Jedi Bastila Shan to defeat the Dark Lord of the Sith, I must say that you are destined to fail, even if you kill me, you are on the most powerful ship in the galaxy, surrounded by equally as powerful ship, you will lose.” Revan said, unhooking his lightsaber from his belt, a blood red blade blasting from the hilt.
“You cannot win Revan, you were a Jedi once, remember your teachings, you still can be saved I know you can.” Bastila said, anger and a caring concern in her voice, a yellow blade blasting from the hilt.
“Please spare me your Jedi propaganda, I became the dark lord for reasons you could never understand, surrender or I will be left with no chose but to fight you. Revan snarled, standing in a Juyo lightsaber stance.
“Revan…I don’t want to fight you, but I will do what I must for the good of the republic… and the Jedi.” Bastila said, standing in a Makashi lightsaber stance.
Revan’s lightsaber was faster then any the Jedi had ever seen, greater then the Jedi Exile, Streen Organa’s lightsaber, with every attack Bastila and the other Jedi made, Revan would match it faster and more powerful, as the duel continued, Bastila and the others were beginning to gain the upper hand until Revan used force wave and pushed them into the crew pits.
“It does not matter what you could do to me, you will never defeat me, this fight is over.” Revan said, turning to look out the viewport at the space battle.
Bastila and the strike team climbed out of the crew pits, ignited their lightsabers and prepared to fight to the death.
“If we lose and you kill us, others will fight you, your empire will fall and you, Revan, will be killed.” The Jedi knight Jonas Star said, his violet bladed lightsaber held over his head in a soresu lightsaber stance.
Revan could care less what the Jedi was saying; his attention was focused on the battle taking place outside, the Leviathan and the Glory were flaking the Hammer and exchanging turbolaser fire with Revan’s flagship, the interceptor and bomber squadrons attacking the republic ships turned their attention to the interceptor and bombers attacking the Leviathan and the Glory, a single Sith bomber began firing at the bridge of the Hammer, launching proton torpedoes, concussion missiles and firing it’s laser cannons wildly in the area around the viewport.
“Damn you, Malak, everybody, get down.” Revan said as the warheads exploded almost in front of the viewport, shaking the bridge, causing Revan and the other Jedi to lose their balance and fall to the floor.
Bastila got to her knees and crawled over to Revan and said: “Revan, can you hear me, Revan?”
Revan heard her voice but he saw his life flash before his eyes, his parents: Jonathan and Mirriana, his brothers and sisters: Emon, Tomaas, Jania and Aloura, his cousin: Ranik, who was like a brother to him, his house in the capital city of Corellia, the hiking trips his family took to the mountains near Coronet, being attacked by a pack of cornelian sand panthers, holding his mothers hand while she slowly died because of the poison from the panthers claw, always blaming himself for her death, for not having an antidote pack in his backpack, her funeral, a week later meeting a family friend, a Jedi master named Keira, the trip to Couscant, first seeing both Couscant that the Jedi temple, seeing some of the younglings bullying a boy, punching the padawan who was head of the gang, getting in trouble by Keria and the padawan’s master, Master Vrook, meeting Malak and becoming best friends, reuniting with Ranik and Jania when they both joined the republic naval academy, being transferred to the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine with Malak and Streen Organa, a padawan who arrived on Couscant a year after Revan did, meeting Bastila for the first time, meditating on one of the hill’s near the enclave watching the sun set, seeing the holo-net reports of mandalorain attacks on worlds all over the outer rim, announcing that he and any other Jedi that wished to go with him would go to sullust and join the republic fleet, the night before he left, saying good bye to Keria and kissing Bastila, who had developed a crush on him, seeing the republic fleet in orbit of Sullust, the worlds he had fought for during the mandalorain war: Serroco, Iridonia, Dagary Minor, Eres III, Duro, Taris, Jaga’s Cluster, Onderon, Dxun, Althir, Malachor V, The mandalorian fleet, lead by Mandalore the Ultimate and the republic fleet, lead by General Streen Organa were blasting each other out of the sky, The combinded forces of his, Streen’s and Malak’s Fleet devision’s attacking the overwlemed forces of Mandalore’s fleet, standing in the doorway of the bridge of Mandalore’s flagship, Mandalore’s honor, the reflection of his single cyan bladed lightsaber on Mandalore’s armor, the scar that ran along the side his right temple that was left there as a gift from Mangalore, witnessing the activation of the mass shadow generator from the bridge of his flagship, the Hammer of Light, sitting at the desk in his office on the Hammer auguring with Streen about whether to return to Couscant to face judgment by the high council or to journey to the unknown regions to find the scattered remains of the mandalorian fleet, watching as Steen’s flagship, the Incourageous and the small fleet of ships wiling to head back to Couscant entered hyperspace, taking an orbital shuttle to Dantooine, Tattooing, Korean, Manahan, Kashyyyk and Rakata Prime, meeting both The One and the Elders council, stepping into the temple of the ancients, landing on the Star Forge, meeting the guardian droid in charge of the smooth running of the Star Forge, watching as the Forge began constructing fleets of interdictors, one and two person interceptors, one and two person bombers, troop carriers, orbital shuttles and Imperial-class dreadnoughts, the visions he had of the true Sith, of a galaxy drowned in war, the fleets of Republic, Sith and Mandalorain ships, the armies of their fleets, the Republic, Sith and mandalorain troopers and Jedi and Dark Jedi fighting the true Sith’s army, warbeasts and warfleets, his vision focused to see Bastila looking down at him, moving to talk off his mask.
“Don’t.” Revan murmured.
“Your injured, let me help you.” Bastila said.
“No, you’ve done your job, Bastila, let me die, I’ll activate the auto-destruct for the Hammer, it’ll take out the Leviathan and the Glory.” Revan said, trying to stand, but laid back down.
“No, my job was to bring you back alive, not kill you.”
“Very well, Jonas, go over to the control panel by the door, input this password: Starwalker-21-18-omaga in the over ride and activate the auto-destruct, set it for five minutes, Bastila, I feel I must warn you that my face has changed a lot from you saw me last.” Revan said, talking off his mask, his face looked different, much different then it had all those years ago, The iris in his eyes had turned from brown to yellow, the area around his scar had become infected, the skin on his face had turned a purplish-red, as if the skin and blood cells had died, causing his skin to look pale, mottled and diseased, the small goatee he had grown during his days on Dantooine had turned into a full mustache and beard, there also was blood trickling down his forehead.
Bastila could sense that Revan’s life was fading when Revan managed to say: “Bastila…[cough]… tell my family that… I did what I did to save the galaxy from the…” Revan let out a breath and died.
Tears began to well up in Bastila’s eyes, she had looked up to him, when she had first met him, she knew he would be a great Jedi master one day, then he turned to the dark side, she had told nobody that she had a secret crush on Revan, she knew, of course, that Jedi were forbidden to fall in love, forbidden to marry, but she didn’t care what the council said, she loved Revan with all her heart.
“Bastila is…is he dead?” Vera Aomgea asked.
Tears began to stream down Bastila’s face when she remembered something she had learned about in the Jedi holocrons, there was a way to save Revan, but during the process, an emotional and force bond would be forged between the two of them, a bond that could only be broken if one of them died or was killed.
“Yes he is, but there is a small spark of life left in him, I can use the force to preserve that spark until we arrive on Dantooine.”
“I know where your going with this, and I’m completely opposed to this, you don’t know what that bond will do to you, the dark taint in him might go over to you.” Vera said.
“That’s a chance I’m willing to take.” Bastila said.
“Ok, I’ve activated the auto-destruct, we have five minutes to escape the Dark Hammer before she explodes…what’s wrong?” Jonas asked.
“Revan is dead and Bastila is going to forge a force bond with him to save his life.” The Jedi Marck Aodsa said.
“That’s completely insane, what makes you so sure that if you do that, Revan can be redeemed?” Jonas asked.
“As I told Vera and Marck, that’s a chance I’m willing to and will take.” Bastila said as she concentrated her healing power on Revan’s head injury and began to preserve the spark of life in Revan’s subconscious mind.
Jonas pulled the comlink from his tunic belt, activated the transceiver and spoke into the receiver: “Jedi Heart, this is Jedi Knight Jonas Star, prepare for imitate departure, also prepare a miniature kolto tank and the medical droid for our arrival.”
“Is a member of the strike team injured?” The Shuttle pilot asked.
“In a matter of speaking, yes.”
“What does that mean, in a matter of speaking?”
“Revan’s been injured, Bastila is going to use the force to sustain his injuries until we get to the Evac Shuttle.”
“All right, I’ve just received a transmission from The Pride of the Republic, their pulling out, we have 4 minutes to link up with the rest of the fleet before they leave.”
“Very well, we’re on our way.” Jonas said as he clicked off his comlink, while Marck picked Revan up and started for the door of the Bridge.
The Computer’s emotionless voice rang through the ship as the four Jedi knights ran for the Turbo-lift that would take them down to the docking bay: “auto-destruct sequence Starwalker 2 Alpha, Four minutes, five seconds to detonation.”
As the Turbo-lift doors opened and the Strike team ran for the Evac Shuttle, the deck plates shook as the bombs planted by the other Jedi strike team’s exploded.
“Hurry up, this ship is breaking apart, let’s go.” Jonas said as they ran up the Loading ramp of the Orbital Shuttle.
“We need to hook Revan up to the kolto tank right now.” Bastila said to the Medical Droid, DLM-15.”
“Observation: it would seem that a piece of shrapnel has lodged itself in one of the artery in his left arm, I have to operate.”
“DLM, get up here we’re going to need some cover fire.”
“Exclamation: Damn it Colonel, I’m a Medical droid, not a Gunner!”
“I don’t care, get up to the cockpit, NOW!!”
“Very well, can you keep an eye on him, Bastila?” DLM asked.
“Of course I will.” Bastila said as DLM climbed up the ladder to the Cockpit.
Bastila looked at Revan’s body, his mask was sitting on the End-table at the head of the Operation table, and she walked over to him, put his hand in hers and whispered: “I love you, Revan Starwalker, and I’ll never leave you for as long as I live.”
“I love you too, Bastila Shan, I always have and always will.” Revan whispered back.
“Revan, can you hear me?”
“In a way, yes, look behind you.” Revan said.
Bastila turned to see Revan standing there, or she thought it was Revan, he had a Mandalorain Wars Era Jedi Robe on, She saw that the lightsaber hooked to his belt was the same one he had built during his time as a Padawan to the Jedi Master, Keria, but the strangest thing was he had a bluish glow around him.
“Revan….Is that really you?”
“Yes, it is I, and I know what you’re going to say, yes i’m dead, but somehow I am tied to you thought the force, I don’t know how, but it would seem that you’re the only one who can see me…it would seem that you are talking to my conscious-mind, or at least what remains of my mind, how this happened, I don’t know, but now, I know all there is to know in the galaxy, and I know a way to survive, but we have to go to Dantooine, only the Jedi Council can help me.” Revan said.
“What can the Council do to help you?” Bastila asked.
Revan looked at his body and said: “My body is nothing but a shell, my consciousness is stuck in your mind, my sub- conscious mind, however, is still in my body, so if somehow, we can transfer the memory’s from someone, like my cousin, Ranik, over to mi… Revan’s brain, perhaps, then he…I can be redeemed.”
“But, what will happen to you?” Bastila asked.
“Well, my memory’s will be erased, but I know a failsafe that will bring all my memories back to me, but I must go, I shall see you soon…My love.”
“Goodbye, Revan…My Love.” Bastila said as Revan disappeared, soon Jonas and DLM entered the Medical Room.
Jonas saw Bastila smiling and said: “What is it, Bastila?”
Bastila Looked up at him and said: “Nothing, Contact Governor Ranik Starwalker on Deralia, as well as Revan’s Family on Corellia.”
“Why?” Jonas asked.
“Because I know how to save Revan.”

The Beginning of the End.
Chapter 52:
Revan did not relish the idea of going back out onto ocean floor, most especially knowing that the mother of all firaxan sharks lurked directly where the Nagai needed to go to activate the Star Map and to shut down the harvester.
What was it Nolan said? Something about reprogramming the harvester to over-pressurize the cells of oxidizing fuel, thus causing the fuel tank canisters to rupture resulting in the entire machine destroying itself?
The scientists used hydrolian gas of one to three million Sagon- a liquid at about four million Sagon and a solid above that. According to Nolan the liquid form was very explosive. If Revan injected enough of the hydrolian gas into the tank, the pressure will be so great that it will turn into the liquid form and start a chain-reaction inside the machine.
Now if she could just get to the harvester without becoming fish food, it'd be perfect plan of action… more or less.
Almost immediately out of the station, Revan spotted one of the kriffing sharks hovering.. no, make that two. The Jedi's reaction was swifter than the sharks darting in for a quick meal. Firing the sonic disrupter she managed to stun both sharks before moving on. Following the massive pipelines made it relatively easy for Revan to remain on target and not become lost so close to the rift.
She only had to go five meters before she spotted the harvester's control panel. Fortunately there was no sign of big bad Mamma shark.. yet. Luckier still, whoever designed the control panel had the bulky pressure suits in mind as the interface had an overly large keypad.
Revan risked a swift look about her before activating the panel. Okay.. now all she had to do was to get the hydrolium at four million Sagon.
Pna classroom cork board boards. Should be easy enough.
Fill the first container to max pressure, which was three of three million Sagon. Transfer the gas from the injector to the container pod causing it to go from 0 to five of five million Sagon.
Done.. Revan paused to look around.. still no big Bad Mamma.. that was good.
Okay fine.. Now to continue.. She filled the injector to max pressure once more and made another transfer of the gas to the container pod which currently was at two of five million Sagon. Another empty of the container pod and another transfer of gas from the injector to the container pod would then fill the injector pod to max pressure.. WAIT.. the water was moving.. churning.. a shadow..
Skye's heart thudded against her breastbone. Revan could feel the menacing presence of Big Bad Mamma closing in on her..
Shit, shit, shit.. move faster..
She transferred the gas to the injector pod..
The screen on the panel flashed a bold letter warning that the pressure in the continent unit was unstable, explosion imminent.
KAAAAAAAWOOOOOOOOOFFFFFFFFFFFFF!
The water muffled what must have an incredible wave of sound as the harvester blew up in a plume of black smoke that quickly dissipated in the sea water as did the fiery blast. The explosion might have been more impressive had it not coiled in upon itself- not unlike a backdraft.
Revan shot her head up and saw far above her, and several meters away, the results of her efforts. The harvester was indeed destroyed. She allowed herself a small whoop of successful pride in the results before slamming down the expected detached Jedi demeanour- though a soft smirk still tugged at the corners of her lips.
The Jedi wasted no time at all to move as quickly as she was able along the mettle mesh walkway along the scaffolding of the harvester towards the Star Map. As she did, she saw over her left shoulder the gargantuan mother of all firaxon sharks simply loitering just within chomping range. The hostility Revan felt before had evaporated. Indeed there was no sign of hostility in Big Bad Mamma now, even as its eyes followed the tiny two legged invader she made no move; she simply allowed the yellow-smooth scale to pass by.
Revan cast a single last glance over her shoulder and hurried as swiftly as she was able to the map. She would be wholly glad after this was all over never to go deep sea diving again. Give her The Black any day. At least out in the 'Verse the Jedi knew what she was doing. Spacewalks were a hell of a lot easier on the nerves then dealing with hungry crazed sharks and fishmen. Part of her laughed then thinking of the little guy in the locker jesting that if they- meaning the Jedi and their companions- were fast enough, they could be fast food.
KOTOR~ KOTOR~ KOTOR~ KOTOR~ KOTOR~ KOTOR
Sitting upon the cold ferrocrete floor, Bastila gasped and released it in great sigh of relief. Her grey eyes snapped open and gentle as an almost serene smile graced her heart-shaped face. It wasn't the rumble of the explosion, they felt both in the underwater currents of the sea and in the Force, or the tremors that vibrated within the building's durasteel struts and the flooring that broke the trance.
'She did it. She got to the Star Map!' Bastila announced excitedly. She felt her lover and bondmate reach their goal and the essence of the Dark Side of the Force being released as the Star Map was activated.
Juhani shared the expression of relief and exhaustion. For the past hour the pair of them had been locked in deep meditation, one trying to tap into the maddened minds of the firaxan sharks and send them away from Revan- or at the very least ignore her- while the other used her Battle Meditation, reaching out with the Force as far as she was able to in the slim hope that she might befuddle both shark and Selkath alike. Now, at the very least, the companions could return to the blessed safety of the surface and leave Manaan and all the shifty backroom politicking behind them.
Of course it would never be as simple as all that. It never was.
Answers would be sought after both by the Selkath government and by the Republic. Both parties will want to know about what happened many fathoms below.
Words floated from a distant memory- from a different Revan- into her present day incarnation: In what seemed an age ago, General Revan stood before a holo projection of the galaxy map and at her right side was her most trusted General and lover, Meetra Surik, while on her left was her closest friend Alec. They were planning their next move against the Mandalorian horde. They had many victories out of the sacrifice of many battlegrounds.
War is primarily a game of skill. It is a contest of mind matched against mind, tactics matched against tactics. But there is also an element of chance that is more suited to games of cards or dice. A wise tactician studies those games, as well, and learns from them.
The first lesson of card games is that the cards cannot be played in random order. Only when laid down properly can victory be achieved.
Revan was an extraordinary card-player.
In this case, there were but four cards:
The first was played on Tatooine at the entrance of the cave with the death of the bounty hunter Carlo Nord. The second was played when Darth Bannon fell within the Shadowlands; the third was played with the death of the dark Jedi Elassa and the consequences of Sunry's trial and his acquittal. The fourth was the destruction of the harvester device for the sake of the Progenitor's sanity and life. That card was now going to be played.
Revan turned to her team, her friends.. her followers. 'Return to the ship and get her prepped for take off, we'll be heading towards Korriban next,' she half smirked, 'not as hospitable as a 'world of water', this dead land we go to. After the ship is prepped and supplied we'll take a day here for furlough.'
'Ha! Republic softness,' Canderous scoffed. 'A Mandalorian is always ready for battle.'
'Yeah how'd that go for you, Mandy? A weapon always half-cocked will always misfire.' Carth said.
'Wow, ye hear that Whelp? He's been hanging around Robes so much he's starting to sound like them.'

'Is that an insult? Or a complement?' Carth smirked. 'If we get a day off before we head off into that sarlac pit of vipers then I'm all for it.'
'Me too,' Mission said. 'I want to have some fun.'
'No worries there, Kiddo. You, Zaalbar and Bastila will be staying here until we get the map from Korriban.' Revan said.
'What?' Three voices said as one causing Revan to raise up her hand.
'Hear me out; Korriban is no place for you two.' This was clearly directed to Mission and Zaalbar. 'I know you faced a hell of a lot up until now but Korriban is going to be different. It's jammed to the brink with Sith and Dark Side force users that will think of nothing of torturing innocents if they think they will gain favour from their Masters. And Bas.. you know you can't go. The power you wield, that's not going to be easy to ignore. It's a radiant beacon. There is no way you're stepping foot on that dead rock.'
Bastila opened her mouth to protest, 'Re.. wait one moment.' She swiftly altered the word she was first going utter.
Canderous and Carth looked at one another and slowly both men started to back way. 'Orange Coat, I think this is one talk I say we stay well out of.'
'You don't say?' Carth nodded vigorously. 'You know, we can we always get a head start on that requisition run.'
Mission and Zaalbar both agreed that some private discussion was needed. They, like the humans before them, decided to go into another part of the bay. 'We'll help.' Mission grabbed the young Wookiee by the arm and urged him to follow. 'Come on Big Z. Let's uh.. not be here. But I'm with Bastila on this one Skye, we shouldn't break the team up. Just 'sayin.'
Juhani and Jolee looked at one another and then to their fellow Jedi. 'Perhaps we to should give the both of you some privacy, but for what this old man's word is worth, I suggest that for Bastila to not go to Korriban is a good move.'
Bastila and Revan didn't break eye contact. 'Your concern is noted, Jolee.' Revan said.
'Yes thank you.' Bastila echoed in a much colder tone.
Once the two women were alone Bastila crossed her arms and glared.
Revan did too.
'You're not going.'
'Yes I am.'
'No.'
'Yes.'
'NO!'
'Do you think to command me as a Master? Or have you mistaken our relationship for marriage?'
Revan gave a playful smirk before responding, 'Is that you're way of proposing? If so then hell yeah, I'll marry you.' Revan smiled.
Bastila took a step forward and shoved her lover in the shoulder. 'I'm being serious!'
'As am I,' Revan's hand caressed the pale softness of Bastila's cheek. 'You can't go there, Princess.'
'And you can? You. Are. Revan. A Dark Lord of the Sith they think dead. They will know you.'
'No. They will only see only a Nagai- a Blade. The Revanchist was never seen without her mask on; the same is true of Darth Revan. They will not know me.'
'You protected me from the ocean and the creatures swimming in it. Now you protect me from the Sith creatures on Korriban?'
'From Malak, from whatever lurks beyond the Outer Rim that had me sacrifice what I was as the Revanchist to become one of the Dark Lords.'
'You cannot make such promises my love…' Bastila moved into the hand and held the hand to her cheek, savouring the touch. 'And don't you think that I would make the same promise to you? If Malak were to ever get his hands upon you.. the torture you'd suffer would be unfathomable. Beyond even a Jedi's endurance- even yours. Revan, the last time.. you defied death. He would never allow you to live, discrediting his myth that he killed his Master even if he stole that myth from my making.'
Both their minds flashed to that fateful day on the bridge of the Ravager: the flagship of Darth Revan.
'A spark of life, a single breath of life barely held within your lungs… a single chance at life. I won't let Malak take it from you, take you from me again.' Bastila vowed.
Revan pressed her lips to Bastila's, savouring the taste, 'Then perhaps while we're protecting one another Juhani and Jolee should go in our stead. But that whole kriffing vision thing with at least one us opening the Star Map negates that idea, and you cannot go to Korriban.'
'I can go. I simply cannot leave the ship,' Bastila pressed her forehead to Revan's before pulling away. 'And I agree with you about Mission, she should not leave either. And where she goes Big Z is sure to follow, though if you command him to go with you he will. I do not relish being stuck on the ship for however long it takes you to locate the map and recover it with a brooding teenager, much less a stir-crazy Wookiee. In fact, having a Wookiee bodyguard isn't a bad idea even for a talented Jedi.'
'Exactly! That's why I said the three of you should stay here on Manaan. Or maybe go back to Kashyyyk. Less chance of becoming stir-crazy in either place. Once we have the final piece we'll rendezvous and then go to wherever the hell the map leads us—to the Star Forge.
'And as for Big Z? No. If I need a bodyguard I'll use someone that I don't truly care if dies or in his case, gets destroyed. HK-47 is useful and if I'm play-acting the part of a 'Jedi wanting to become a Sith', having a personal assassin droid may not be a bad idea to sell the whole masquerade. But even still, the clanker is far more expendable than anyone else on the crew.'
'Including Carth?' Bastila teased
Revan gave her lover a scathing look. 'I may not like the guy or he like me, but yes that includes the Orange Coat. He's not an expendable member of the team. You know I would give my life to save him even if I can't stand the guy.'
Bastila wasn't so sure the sentiment would be returned once the Commander found out the truth of who he thought Skye Ravensong was. You didn't have to be a Jedi to foresee that was whole lot of drama ready to burst open like the floodgates of a dam when the truth finally did surface.
'You know Carth is going to want to be at your side to get to his son.'
'I know. The only issue there is Onasi's anger issues. If that doesn't give us dead away I'll be surprised.' Revan intoned.
'Maybe he'll manage to keep it under control if he thinks his son's life is in danger if he sheds the necessary masquerade.'
'That seems unlikely..' Revan paused as the sliding blast door opened on the other side of the docking bay of the Republic Base. All eyes shifted to the intruders. They consisted of their companions and behind them a contingent of Selkath security forces and three Republic officers.
'Ah, Skye we got a problem.' Mission stated before any of the rest of them could utter a syllable.
'I am Gelba Methaia. Republic Representative of Manaan, taking over for Roland Wren. This is Nilko Beaas of Alto City Security,' the human man didn't bother to introduce the four officers flanking Beaas.
Nilko was a recognizable face. He had been the one who went to the companions to learn why the Republic had been hiring machineries. At the time he had 'hired' the companions he had not made his true position known. Now things became very clear- but then duplicity wasn't an unknown trait among the Selkath. Knowing Nilko was in fact an officer with the Alto City Security Force made things.. easier and far more difficult.
'You went down to the Hrakert Station, there are reports from Roland Wren that state there were some unexplainable disappearances of personnel and a complete lack of contact and you went there to investigate. Can you tell us what happened there?' Gelba all-but demanded.
'Most assuredly,' Skye said evenly. 'The construction efforts on the harvester woke something up, causing both the Selkath and the firaxan sharks to go insane. So much so that the Selkath turned on the Republic scientists and the mercs sent there by Wren to find out what happened and they well.. began to eat them.'
'What?!' This came from the horse-faced man that claimed to be Roland Wren's replacement.
The Selkath officers were also perturbed by what they had heard.
'Selkath do not feed upon other sentients.' One of the fish-man officers said in an outraged voice.
'I was there and we took footage. See for yourself. The proof is all there,' the Jedi handed over a data pad.
The Selkath didn't look at the pad as he handed it to one his aides (who had spoken up earlier) who then immediately began to scroll through its contents. Was it just Revan or did the green-scaled Selkath turn even more green? He looked as if he wanted to vomit as he saw his insane fellow Selkath feast greedily on the mangled bodies of the Republic scientists.
Revan's eyes narrowed as she saw the skin around Gelba Methaia's eyes grow wide, his skin had paled, the muscles in his throat were tight, and there was a thin coating of perspiration on his face. You know don't you. Revan surmised.
'That's horrible!' Methaia said almost theatrically for benefit of the present Selkath. 'A disaster we could never have predicted in a million years.' His voice carried a mix of tension and interests that indicated sudden understanding.
'Really. I find that difficult to believe.' Bastila interjected, taking the Representative to task. 'Your scientists indicated they knew the sonic seismic charges had a visible effect on the local firaxan population. Was it any wonder their matriarch would rise up and take exception to her progeny being afflicted? I had no choice but to destroy the harvester.'
'You did what? No! This is terrible! This will set our work back for years! It may even cost us the war!'
'What is this harvester you keep speaking about?' Nilko demanded.
'It is a construct built near the Rift by the Republic to harvest more than the allotted kolto.'
'That is the hallowed home of the Progenitor!' Nilko railed. 'What became of her? Was that what the explosion came from?!' The four guards moved swiftly towards the companions of the Ebon Hawk. It was difficult at the best of times to read the expressions of the elongated fish-faced Selkath. But it was more than evidently clear their intent. They meant to take Revan and her squad mates into custody. Revan gave no outward reaction. Her face was a mask of complete and utter indifference.
The Jedi's calm demeanour flowed over the others in waves, and almost immediately all- including those of the Ebon Hawk- calmed. Revan's connection to her lover flared brightly and the Nagai realized that the human was using her Battle Meditation to influence everyone.
The former Dark Lord was very grateful.
'Like I said, she drove all the Selkath insane. Those poor souls were not responsible for their actions. Unfortunately there were only a handful of survivors of their attack on the Republic Base and the ones afflicted also did not survive. Your Progenitor, however, is alive and well and had returned to the Rift.
'And the cost of destroying the harvester may cost us the war. Is the life of one shark worth the lives of so many soldiers? So many Jedi!?' Gelba lamented.
'If the Legendary Progenitor had perished Representative Gelba Methaia, know this: Manaan would banish the Republic from our world forever and we would no longer trade with your government.
'The Hrakert Rift is the most precious resource on Manaan, and anything that threatens it or the kolto it produces threatens our entire species. In fact, such an unforgivable crime might well urge us to align with the Sith. You are fortunate this Jedi chose the life of 'one shark' over the machinery. The Great Mother isn't just 'some shark'! The Progenitor is the life-bringer of our species!
'We will not tolerate threats to our neutrality, our existence, and our way of life! But your actions, Jedi.. cast your previous actions in a new light- both on your actions, and on what we must do in response. Legends say the Progenitor is the source of kolto, or at least she is its guardian. The fact you saved it will go well for you. The Council will need to hear of this. I will act as your advocate during the proceedings.
'I know the Council will not be able show their gratitude overtly, but you will earn their respect. I do not wish the Republic to be banned. I see the Sith for that they truly are; ruthless and evil. The Republic had always respected our independence, but if they fall, the Sith will be quick to send an invasion fleet to conquer Manaan.
'But I cannot simply ignore what the Republic has done. Now you know the Hrakert Rift is the source of Manaan's kolto and I fear the science station might have damaged the delicate resource. But you stopped it. The ancient mysteries once shadowed now have light. Before, even we Selkath did not comprehend such things. I fear the awakening of the Progenitor will have very significant repercussions. I think she would have been best left undisturbed.
'But perhaps the Republic or perhaps the even the Jedi and we Selkath may eventually solve the mystery. I will instruct my agents to keep this conversation secret so that the vile Sith will not gain from the Republic's foolishness. I only hope my silence does not lead to disaster for Manaan.'
'You and I both.' Revan said.

While Revan went with Nilko Beaas to speak with the Alto City council over what had happened at the Rift, the rest of the companions worked to fulfil their obligations to ensure the journey continued.
Supplies would be necessary for the coming weeks it might well take for the Jedi to locate the last Star Map. Neither Revan nor Bastila had had a vision of the map's location as of yet, but it was only a matter of time before the location made itself known to them.
It was simply easier to avoid both attention and the cost if the companions went to the Manaan open markets. Darth Malak's spies no doubt had already heard of a group of Jedi and Republic agents (though only one non-Jedi fit that description) asking questions about ancient artifacts.
And of course the attack on the Sith Base was not something Malak would ignore.
The companions had spent the last hour and a half purchasing all the previsions they thought they may need for their time on Korriban. If they forgot anything, or if their stay on Korriban was prolonged for unknown reasons, only then would a trip to Dreshdae prove necessary.
Before she left, Revan turned and whispered to Bastila who, (gave a strange look to both Mission and Zaalbar) then turned back to her lover and nodded.
A leader is responsible for those under their authority. That is the first rule of command. She is responsible for their safety, their provisions, their knowledge, and ultimately, their lives.
Those whom she commands are in turn responsible for their behavior and their dedication to duty. Any who violates her trust must be disciplined for the good of the others. But such discipline is not always easy or straightforward. There are many factors, some of them beyond the commander's control. Sometimes those complications involve a personal relationship, other times it is the circumstances themselves that are difficult.
There can also be politics and outside intervention involved.
Failure to act always brings consequences. But sometimes, those consequences can be turned to one's advantage.
Bastila watched the younglings just knowing that Mission was going to burst with boiled up frustration any moment soon, and she wasn't disappointed. Mission came back down the Hawk's gangplank empty-handed ready to take yet another duroplast barrel with antigrav locks.

The young Twi'lek huffed and stomped up Bastila. The action gained the attention of not only the human, but also Juhani, Jolee and Big Z.
'I don't get it- and it's not fair!' Mission fumed. 'Why is it Skye thinks we're not ready for this? We faced all sorts of dangers. Hell, I was in the sewers with her when we killed Fido. We fought hordes of rakghouls and Gamorreans, Sith, Dark Jedi, bounty hunters, Carlo Nord and- and-'
Mission screeched out in sudden- and crippling- pain as a wave of purple lighting shot out of Bastila's hand. The Force fueled Bastila's preternatural senses and she avoided Big Z's rushing charge. Juhani was there in an instant but she did not send a Force wave out towards the Jedi Sentinel, but towards the wookiee. He was hoisted up into the air, twisting and twirling. It was a more passive technique than the more powerful Force Push.
Mission's cries lasted less then three seconds, but it was enough for the girl to nearly lose all control of her bladder. Her tiny body curled into a fetal position, her whimpers echoing in the hanger bay.
The action stunned the human males, Carth drew his blaster but his hand was stopped but by Jolee's withered hand on his. An unspoken command in the old man's voice 'don't interfere' echoed in Carth's mind.
Canderous understood what he was witnessing. There were times when a Mandalorian whelp needed to be beaten down only to be rebuilt in their commander's imaginings- forged into a better warrior.
'That-' Bastila said with cold efficiency, 'is only a taste of what the Sith will do to you, youngling. I was gentle, Sith acolytes will not be. Even if you posed as a slave for Re.. Ravensong, being a Twi'lek, despite your youth, they will think you a body slave. In order to keep her cover as a Jedi convert, she would have to display such power- and it will not be as kind.' Bastila knelt by the girl and cradled the child's head into her lap and stroked the girl's lekku as might a mother soothing night terrors. 'I am sorry you had to suffer, but you had to feel the touch of the Dark Side to know why Skye wishes to keep you safe.
'She cares deeply for you and for Big Z and she will always strive to protect you, as do I, Juhani and Jolee. Carth as well will see you protected. He tired to intervene but knew a father's wisdom in allowing a child to touch a hot stove in order to know never to do so again. In essence 'fire bad'.
'Dark Force users have no such protective instincts; their souls are filled with pure raw malice. Remember that pain, Mission. Remember your inability to aid your 'sister' Zaalbar and that was only a minor taste of what the Force is capable of. It will keep you both alive. Do not rail against Skye's or our desire to protect you. Whatever she asks of you, do so without protest on your lips. Can you both do that?'
Mission was still twitching from the tiny spark of Force Lighting that had coiled around her body moments earlier. Her blue eyes opened and she looked at the warm gray eyes looking down at her.
'Ye.. yeah.' Mission nodded slowly, her body still aching. 'I get it.'
Zaalbar grunted a sound that had no translation but the meaning was very clear. 'I owe Skye a lifedebt. I must always do as Skye asks of me no matter if I want to or not. I go and do as she bids me.'
'And what of you Bastila?' The question came from Jolee. The old man had released his grip on Carth's arm and he took a step forward. 'Will you follow your own advice?'
'I will acquiesce to our leader's bidding,' came her reluctant answer. 'I can do no less than what is asked of Mission and Zaalbar. She's correct- the three of us cannot go to Korriban. Even if we stay on the Hawk it will be uncomfortable to say the least. Skye suggests with we three either stay here on Manaan or hire a transport to go back to Kashyyyk… I think the latter would be the better of the choices open to us.
'Don't you believe I wish to fight at Skye's side? To always be there with her? But I know the dangers of Korriban. The Dark Side is powerful and its influence can take even the most guarded mind. If I step foot on that planet Malak will know within an instant and all our efforts will be for not.'
Bastila looked from face to face, all now listening to the Sentinel. Her eyes fell most pointedly upon Carth then turned to Mission and Zaalbar. 'Trust Skye,' she said using the Force to instil these simple words into her companions' minds. So powerful was her suggestion that it became ingrained upon the subconscious.
TRUST SKYE. Under that, Bastila used a flicker of her Battle Meditation to implant another far more subtle suggestion: TRUST REVAN.
Leadership and obedience are the two legs on which a warrior's life is balanced. Without both, victory can not be achieved. Leadership depends on information and comprehension. Not so, for obedience. Sometimes a commander may choose to share details of her plan. Often she may not. In either case, obedience must be instant and complete. Such automatic response relies on trust between commander and those commanded.
And that trust can only be obtained through leadership.

Bastila had to trust her lover as much as she was asking of the younglings and the rest of the crew of the Ebon Hawk- even though her heart protested and the Force gave her the foresight to know something lurked within the shadows that would hit before the companions even reached Korriban. It was that knowledge that had unnerved the Sentinel to her very core.

AN: Borrowing heavily from the book Thrawn by Timothy Zahn, I believe in Revan's hay day when the Great Jedi turned Dark Lord were at their greatest power would mirror Thrawn's insights thus his words are now Revan's.
